The Tuesday evening Couples League is open to any members of TBCC with a handicap. We play matches on Tuesday evening (usually between the hours of 3:30 and 6:00). Couples are given a schedule of matches and then arrange a time with their opponent to play.

This is a great way to meet other couples and have a little fun. Most couples arrange to stay for dinner after play. Quality of play is not important!!! Handicaps are used - a maximum of 40 for women and 36 for men.

Format and Scoring

Couples will play matches each Tuesday evening as indicated on the schedule. You are asked to tee off between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. We ask that those couples that can play early do so. This will help eliminate a back-up on the first tee at 5 p.m. and would enable working couples to finish play before dark. We hope everyone will stay and enjoy the evening together after golf.

NOTE: Players will be required to get in line to tee off in the usual way since the tee will remain open to other Tuesday evening players. NO MULLIGANS.

FORMAT: Four-Ball Stroke Play for 9 Holes (Best ball of each couple, net of handicap, in a Match Play format.)

HANDICAPS: The match will be played off the low player's handicap. Current USGA handicap will be used. Maximum of 36 for men and 40 for women.

9-hole handicaps should be determined in the following way:

• Men: ½ of 18-hole handicap (round up)
• Women: Add 2 to the 18-hole handicap and divide by 2 (round up) (Women are given the 2 extra strokes when competing against men due to the difference in course ratings. This would make the maximum for women 42.)

POINTS: Teams will be awarded a maximum of 12 possible points each week as follows:

• 1 point for each hole won
• ½ point for a tied hole
• 3 points for the team scoring the most points in the match
• 1 ½ points each if the match is tied.

NOTE: If your opponents fail to show up or do not line up a sub., your team will be awarded 9 of the 12 possible points. (You must play to receive these points.) If neither team plays, no points are awarded.

RAIN OUTS WILL NOT BE MADE UP. The following week will be played according to the original schedule.

CONTACTING YOUR OPPONENTS: Teams should call each other to schedule a meeting time between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. If you can't play, please arrange for a substitute and notify your opponent. If, at the last minute, you find you are unable to play, please call your opponents and the Pro Shop to let them know you will not be playing.

ENTRY FEE: $30.00 per couple, which covers prizes at the banquet. Please make checks payable to Bob Austin.
